Nissan has announced that it plans to make aggressive moves in India with an all-new model that will come to India around September 2020. This all-new compact SUV will be exclusive to the Nissan brand, which means there won't be a platform sharing with their alliance partner Renault. The powertrain and transmission options too will be all-new, and nothing of that will be shared with Renault, ending the speculation of a Renault SUV based on the same platform. This new sub-4-meter compact SUV from Nissan will rival the likes of the recently updated Tata Nexon, the Suzuki Vitara Brezza petrol, Mahindra's XUV300, the Hyundai Venue, and the Ford EcoSport.Powering this all-new compact SUV from Nissan will be an equally all-new 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that will be mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. There will not be a diesel engine on offer. Speaking at a media briefing, Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India (P) Limited said that the brand will launch an all-new subcompact SUV in India in 2020. The vehicle will be designed in Japan and it will be manufactured in India with locally sourced parts. He added that Nissan is currently building an SUV portfolio for the Indian market. The brand plans to introduce a minimum of one new Nissan product in India every year.
